Webb11 sep. 2013 · Yes; F8.8s are cheaper than XJ D44s, overall are slightly stronger, has good aftermarket support like the D44s do. Downside is you need the leaf spring perches and other crap welded on the axle, but that same thing applies to any rear axle that does not come out from under an XJ. Webb8 dec. 2009 · I took off the bearing that was originaly on my 3.55's that it ran perfect with no wine or any problem and had it pressed o the 3.90's , replaced the crush sleeve with new one and put it back together. 1. Put the pinion on and hand tighten the nut. 2. Inserted and bolted the differential on the rear end. 3. Webb21 mars 2014 · Inspect the bearing area toward the flange end of the axles for scoring. The 8.8 is known for wearing out axle bearings. If the axles are scored it’s time to replace them and the bearings, if you’re doing this job you should at least replace the bearings and seals regardless of axle condition. Differential Removal.
